Prices increase 19 percent in second quarter, federal data show

Deschutes County home prices continued to increase in value in the second quarter, rising 19 percent over the second quarter 2013, according to federal housing data released today.

The increase gave the Bend-Redmond Metropolitan Statistical Area, which comprises all of Deschutes County, the eighth-highest rate of home-price appreciation out of 276 MSAs nationwide, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s All-transactions House Price Index.

It also marked the fifth straight quarter Deschutes County’s housing prices showed double-digit percentage increases, according to the index, which tracks average price changes from repeat sales and refinancings on the same single-family properties.
